Tax Scams
2
June, 2016

We have had many clients call the past two weeks who have informed us the “IRS” has called them with threats of liens, levies, arrests, etc., for past tax obligations. Please, DO NOT EVER give these scammers your personal information over the telephone. The IRS WILL NOT initiate an audit or collection proceedings via a phone call. Written communication is ALWAYS the FIRST measure the IRS utilizes for these types of issues.

Keep in mind the Internal Revenue Service renewed a consumer alert for e-mail schemes after seeing an approximate 400 percent surge in phishing and malware incidents so far this tax season. Variations of these scams are also being sent via text messages. Unfortunately these scams are happening all over of the country, so stay aware. Do not fall victim. If you are ever in question, give us a call and we will calm your fears regarding any situation!
